We must ask ourselves to what end do we seek Him AND for what purpose. It’s a tough question,
however its worth the honest soul-searching effort for its discovery. We can be moved by the power of God, be inspired and filled with hope in the promises of God, and yet come short of the purest pursuit with the richest reward.

Every promise laid out before us is only meant to lead us toward something much greater. The promise of healing is meant for us know our HEALER. The promise of provision is draw us toward our PROVIDER. The promise of protection is to lead us in knowing our PROTECTOR. The cure of feeble faith is not in the breakthrough you seek, rather it’s discovering the God of the breakthrough personally and intimately.

Imagine with me for a moment that your life was being threatened by a hungry lion in a Roman amphitheater because of your faith. As you stand there with a small pocket knife in your hand as your only defense you are certain of the outcome. The deafening sounds of thousands cheering is only reinforcing the gut wrenching fact that you’re now facing deaths door. Just as the Lion is loosed from its cage and leaps forward to make his kill someone jumps out from the crowd and heroically kills the Lion. As the crowd erupts in chaos this same hero manages to help you escape. You never met or seen this man before. You wake up the next morning only to realize you are being nursed back to health. Whatever you could need or want you have access to and yet the great mystery is WHO saved me? Who delivered me? I need to know him. Day’s turns into weeks. The best meals, clothing, and care is as your disposal. You are treated as royalty. Yet, is not something growing within you? Is not the longing in your heart only intensified to know the one who saved you?

Today as believers this should be our greatest pursuit. Let us not be content with only the life he has given us. Yes, we do have access to much, but it doesn’t compare to WHOM we have access to. Dare to press in. Dare to push through.

QUESTIONS/PRAYER

  1. Read Colossians‬ ‭1:15-20‬ in the message translation. Read slowly, thinking about every word that beautifully describes WHO is our God!
  2. Have you ever asked yourself the hard question, to what end do we seek him and what purpose? This question is not meant to condemn rather, it’s to help align our hearts once again.
  3. Where does one begin when faith is small or feeble? Worship is key. Try it, instead of praying like usual just begin to say or sing the next ten minutes about who is God. Watch the atmosphere shift!
