Have you ever tried driving with a foggy window? You have the heater blowing and before you know it, condensation is impacting your vision. The longer you ignore the issue, the worse it gets until your vision is completely blocked and you are forced to stop!

With this example in mind follow me for a moment. We are a SPIRIT who has a SOUL and lives in a BODY. Our spirits are created to be in the driver seats. Our soul is like the front windshield of a vehicle. It’s the lens on how we perceive and interact with the world around us. When our souls become intoxicated with different addictions or emotional trauma it slowly begins to darken our vision until eventually we are unable to SEE and discern the direction and will of the Lord for our lives. It can be like driving with mud or condensation on your windshield. You won’t get very for and you could even cause damage to yourself and/or others if you try.

Luke 11:34
“The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

When a soul is intoxicated the vision that is available is usually only a reflection. They see through hurt, discontentment, and pain yet many boast calling it revelation. This is why so many find themselves going around the same mountain. Revelation and/or vision that comes from the Lord always produces hope and life.

Ephesians 1:18
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.

So how do you overcome when your vision is cloudy because your soul has been intoxicated with addictions, hatred, etc?

Jesus said, “Seek FIRST My kingdom and my righteous and all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

It’s in the cry of the night and the willingness to completely surrender to God’s rule that your able to come face to face with Him who makes all things new. When we come to the end of ourselves and choose to seek FIRST His rule over our lives the miracle happens and we’re able to truly SEE the kingdom that’s been there the whole time!!

Lastly, the Word is a lamp unto our feet a lamp unto our feet. Even in blindness God makes a way!

QUESTIONS/PRAYER:

  1. So you ever struggle with being able to see beyond today?
  2. Soul intoxication can happen in so many ways. Discuss those mentioned by Pastor and see if anyone has more to add.
  3. Do you still struggle with any of these areas?
  4. Share your personal story as a leader and how you were able to overcome.
  5. Many times, someone’s faith for us becomes the only thing we can see at times. This is why prophetic words, and/or words of faith released over people can be so powerful! What do see for each of your people?
