“So I counsel you to purchase gold perfected by fire, so that you can be truly rich. Purchase a white garment to cover and clothe your shameful Adam-nakedness. Purchase eye salve to be placed over your eyes so that you can truly see.”

Revelation 3:18 TPT

These instructions were given to the  Laodicean church or church age in order to fully be prepared for the coming of the Lord. With each church age, the church was given specific warnings that they would have to overcome. With the Laocdicean church age lukewarmness would become the battle to be fought and overcome by EVERY believer! In other words, the spirit of the age that would try to silence and destroy the church during this era would be lukewarmness. However with the warning Jesus provides the antidote. The counsel given to overcome is found in Revelation 3:18. Today, let’s focus on the anointing of our eyes.

ANOINT OUR EYES

When we anoint our eyes with the eyesalve that Jesus provides we will be able to see spiritual things that we did not see before. The anointing we need is the “single” and “only” fervent love for Jesus, his plan, and his work. Jesus is speaking about the eye of the heart’s desire! It’s a single focus. It’s a matter of first love where all else fades, growing dim in comparison to your one and true love found in Jesus alone! (Matthew 6:22- 24 AMP)

FROM BLIND BEGGAR TO ANOINTED EYES

Jesus healed a blind beggar in John 9. This man was born blind until he encountered Jesus and his life was completely transformed. The miracle of physical sight rubbed the religious leaders of the day wrong which created an opportunity for us to see something we may have not noticed before. Within this conflict something else becomes evident. Jesus didn’t just heal the beggar’s physical blindness. He also anointed his eyes so he could see the truth!

This eye salve that we’re instructed to purchase will cost much. It requires a surrendered life. It’s a life for a life. It’s a heart that is fully His, belonging to nothing and no one else. As this flame of your first love is ignited within, the eyes of your heart will clearly see!

“I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling —that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!”

Ephesians 1:18 TPT

QUESTIONS:

1. Do you believe we’re living in the Laodicean church age?

2. What is evidence or fruit of a lukewarm life?  (Blindness…)

3. The Beautiful thing about the story of the blind beggar is that it removes the idea that spiritual sight is only for a few anointed/gifted people. Spiritual sight is not only possible but it’s necessary for us to live the life of victory! Have you ever struggled to see spiritually? According to Rev 3:18, what do you believe to be the solution?
