Many assume when a door of promise or breakthrough is opened for them, they automatically enter it. It would be like a gentleman opening a door for a lady, only for her to be filled with gratitude for his kindness but never responding with action. Her appropriate response would be to actually ENTER the opened door. When God gives you a promise, he gives you the open door. It’s then our responsibility to enter it!

We can get stuck in the valley between the promise received and the promise fulfilled when we fail to realize BELIEF IS REQUIRED! Before you ever see a promise fulfilled in the natural, an inner work or alignment must be done. In other words, the enlarging of a territory always starts within before it can be seen without. The promise will begin reshaping your perspective, mediation or thought life, and even your speech way before it will reshape the world around you.

Paul gave specific instructions to Timothy, a young timid preacher. He said, “Do not neglect the gift which is in you, (that special inward endowment) which was directly imparted to you (by the Holy Spirit) by prophetic utterances when the elders laid their hands upon you. Practice, cultivate, and mediate upon these duties; throw yourself wholly into them (as your ministry), so that your progress may be evident to everybody.” 1 Tim 4:15-16

I believe Timothy received a promise of the man of God he was called to become. He received specific promises that weren’t yet fulfilled in his life. Notice Paul said, “practice, cultivate, and mediate!” In other words, allow these prophetic promises to always be before you. In doing so, you will enter into belief!!

QUESTIONS/PRAYER:

  1. Have you received a promise that is yet to be fulfilled?
  2. What have you done to enter into the door of that promise?
  3. What are some ways that you can apply Paul’s instructions to your specific situation?
