God has a dream and His dream is of a family. God’s dream is the theme of the entire Bible. It’s story of his children exiled and their homecoming.

Our text is Luke 15:11-32 The parable of the prodigal is about the Father and his two sons. We usually preach about the prodigal being bad and lost. But the moral of the story is that neither boy was really home.  Though one stayed, he stayed for the father’s stuff. It wasn’t really out of his love for his father. All he cared about was the 2/3 inheritance he was about to inherit. He stayed because he loved his father’s stuff.
Like this, so many are in the church but not in relationship with the father. Like the older son, they consider themselves slaves to the house. Believers are called to serve but if we like the older son do not serve out of a place of love for our Father, we are really never home.  Being home means we are surrendering our dream for God’s dream. We are not serving God for his stuff but are serving him out of our great love for the Father.

So Consider and Discuss the following questions:
1.    Do we really know where we come from? Have we settled in our hearts that we are the children of God? (1Pet 1:23) We are royal, a peculiar people
1 Pet 2:9
2.    Do we know where we belong? We are not of the world. (John 17:16) We are seated with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Col 2:12) We are fellow citizens with the saints in the household of God. (Eph 2:1)
3.    Do we know what we are called to? We are his workmanship created for good works. (Eph 2:10) We are ambassadors for Christ making his appeal to the world. (2 Cor 5:20) I am being built on the foundation of apostles and prophets. Col 2:7
